The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
