The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
