The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
