The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
