The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
