The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
