Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
