Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
