The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 in which you are now living 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 What will explain to you what the ascent is? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
