Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 He verily will be content. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
