The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
