The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
