The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
