The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
