The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 In response they denied him We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
