The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
