So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
