The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
