The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 upon couches gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
