Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
