The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
