The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ TRULY, to a happy state shall attain the believers: 1 who are submissive to God in their prayers, 2 and who turn away from all that is frivolous, 3 And who pay the (obligatory) charity. 4 Who abstain from sex, 5 Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, 6 but those who seek to go beyond that are transgressors -- 7 and who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges, 8 and who observe their prayers. 9 These are the heirs 10 Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally. 11 We created the human from an essence of clay: 12 then We made him, a drop, in a secure receptacle (the womb). 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 and then, behold! you shall be raised from the dead on Resurrection Day. 16 And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. 17 And We sent down out of heaven water in measure and lodged it in the earth; and We are able to take it away. 18 And by means of this [water] We bring forth for you gardens of date-palms and vines, wherein you have fruit abundant and whereof you eat, 19 And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat. 20 And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat; 21 And on them and on the ships you are borne. 22
