S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
