The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
