The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
