Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
