He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
