The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
