The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and gently take it away; 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
