The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
