۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
