The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
