The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 Oft times would those who disbelieve fain that they had been Muslims. 2 leave them to eat, and to take their joy, and to be bemused by hope; certainly they will soon know! 3 We have never destroyed a township without a definite decree having been issued; 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send down the angels (in frivolity); and when We do send them down, We do so with Truth; then people are granted no respite. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 We place in the hearts of sinners (disbelief). 12 They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
