Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
