۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
