The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
