Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
