The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
