Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
