The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
