The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
