And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
