Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty garden, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
