By no means! By the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
