The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Not at all - but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a repository of distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
