The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them that they may eat and enjoy themselves and (that) hope may beguile them, for they will soon know. 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why dost thou not bring the angels unto us, if thou speakest truly?' 7 We send not the angels down save with judgment, and then they would not be respited. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples. 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 they do not believe in it. This has been the wont of people of this kind from ancient times. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15
