We created man -- We know the promptings of his soul, and are closer to him than his jugular vein -- 16 (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). 17 He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready. 18 And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid. 19 And the trumpet is blown. This is the threatened Day. 20 Each soul shall come with a driver, and a witness. 21 Assuredly thou wast in neglect thereof; now We have removed from off thee thy veil, so thy sight Today is piercing. 22 And his comrade shall say, 'This is what I have, made ready.' 23 It will be said to the angels, “Both of you fling every excessive ungrateful, stubborn person into hell.” 24 "Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 and has set up another deity with Allah. Hurl him into the grievous torment.” 26 ۞ His companion said: “I did not incite him to rebel; he was far gone into error of his own accord.” 27 [And] He will say: "Contend not before Me, [O you sinners,] for I gave you a forewarning [of this Day of Reckoning]. 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
