And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
