The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right hand; 38
