Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
